I have a sinking feeling about this…

On any given morning, the news that comes up in my live feed generally has a noticeable element to it, as though it were just one reporter reporting it all and it’s based only on what he/she is obsessed with at the moment.  But I realize that’s not how it is.  What I notice is, in all reality, more likely to be what I’m obsessed with at the moment.  Either way, I can’t help noticing patterns that imply synchronicity and I’m paying close attention in hopes of deciphering the meanings.

Quite a few times in the past year or so, the pattern has been of random shootings and kidnappings and more particularly of people who went suddenly psychotic for unknown reasons.  Bursts of gamma radiation form the sun? Subsonic frequencies interfering with their brainwaves? Congenital brain or neural-chemistry defects increasing with population?  A social-psychological reaction to population density?

Okay… so this morning – for the past several morning in fact and quite a few throughout this year and last – it’s been sinkholes.  Sink holes can happen as a result of excess mining or ground fluid pumping, underground streams, water main breakage, or rising sea levels, ect.  Is it just me, or does it seem like there have been an awful LOT of them lately?  There were a dozen of them in the news this morning.  A dozen!

I had a dream about such an event some back but apparently on another world: Above a Karst Landscape.  I wonder if there’s a connection there?

I thought about that this morning when I saw an article about a sink hole several months back that swallowed a man while he slept in his bedroom.  It was 60 feet deep.  There was a little clip showing the bedroom inside the sink as pretty much intact, such that it would have been easy to imagine the man surviving down there, but they never found him; not his body either.  My imagination is caught by the potential story there.

Meanwhile, the house has been torn down, the sinkhole filled in, the man presumed dead, and the houses on either side condemned since the sink hole is expected to eventually encompass them as well, fill dirt in there or not.  The Earth is hungry and she will feed I guess.

Jeb has a saying for when any of our kids or anyone else’s are behaving brattily – which is to say NOT behaving: “And now you know why tigers eat their young.”

Well, I don’t know that tigers eat do eat their young.  I think he made that up but still…  The earth is dynamic being and our mother.  Have we behaved like brats to her? Is she eating her young now?

I see forests around here being cut down in wide swaths displacing hundreds of other species, destroying the existing water sheds, and cutting down on the amount of polluted air that would otherwise have been processed cleaner by the trees, in order to accommodate our out-of-control human population and it really does give me a sinking feeling, a feeling of something being pushed too far.  Aint no one going to be happy if Mama’s not happy.

Yes, I see the theme.  But what’s the point of seeing it if you haven’t a clue what to do about it?

There are a lot of things I almost wish I didn’t see.  I see lies far too easily , for instance.  Kind of clouds my rose-colored glasses on occasion.  As a kid, it was discovering where meat came from.  When as an adolescent, I heard from my sister what a French kiss was, I was so horrified at the idea of “tongues fighting/dancing and people swapping spit,” I refused to believe her until I eventually found out for myself and that it really wasn’t a bad thing at all.  Death sounded scary too until I eventually understood it better.  Some fears are meant to be met head-on.  Maybe ALL of them are.

Not sure where I’m going with this.  Just trying to work it out I guess.

There’s something I remember reading in the course of exploring a number of well-documented regression and dream studies of a future time, about 300 years in length, when the earth is utterly dead except for one small pocket of survivors living in a base beneath the sterile sea, striving to get life started again here after we’d killed it all… or after some major extinction event or other.  It seems to be a large enough consensus event that it may not be avoidable at this point.  But I’m an optimist.  I doubt that.  I think we just need to pay more attention to what we’re doing and we’ll all be okay.  Is that really too much to expect of the world?
