Pieces of a dream

I remember only a little of what I dreamed last night, which is annoying because I was soooo determined to remember it better.  So I’m going to try extrapolating between the pieces as best I can and hope to make some sense of them all.

I was with a group, a team, consisting of friends and family members, Jeb among them… only our relationship was kind of more professional than personal.  We work together in real life, so this makes sense, but he was team-member, not family in this dream.  At least that’s how it seemed.  Sometimes it does feel like that in waking life too, so that kind of makes sense too.

We were back at the academy again, looking for something like treasure in all the vast labyrinth corridors.  It was like a palace in there, very rococo, not well lit though… just torches and the occasional hanging brass lantern here and there.

Each team is looking for a separate piece of treasure, competing against each other.  There is some dissension over whose bit of treasure is whose though.  When a teenage boy goes past us with a piece of treasure, my team mates automatically assume he has a piece of ours and threaten him for it.  I throw myself in their way and won’t let them hurt him, insisting it’s not part of our treasure he has anyway.  I’m impudent about this because I know none of my teammates will risk hitting me even by accident, so the boy is safe and manages to get away unharmed.  Later, the boy returned the favor.

As we were walking, I began looking rather anxiously for a restroom… a clear warning that I’d better wake up pretty soon.  But instead of finding a restroom when I peeked into a likely door, I saw a changing area wide open to a beautiful swimming pool.  In the dream, when telling Jeb about it, I called it a Turkish bath.  It wasn’t.  It was just a beautiful indoor swimming pool with waterfalls at either end, a large fountain at its center, and rope swings hanging overhead which the almost exclusively female swimmers were making playful use of.

I knew Jeb would not be allowed to come with me but told him to check the door opposite for the men’s pool.  With that, I rushed into the changing are and started doffing my clothes before the door had even swung shut all the way.  I could hardly wait to get into that pool!

I didn’t get there though.  Jeb dodged in after me, flung a towel around me and used it to tow me right back out.

“FIRE!” he shouted, pointing up.

He was right, the eaves above us were on fire.

Yeah, I chose then to wake up.  Seemed a good time for it.

About Ampbreia

I'm an ex-Pentacostal, ex-Muslim, ecclectic Agnostic with slightly Wiccan leanings. I am not affiliated with any organized religion or political platform, but I do believe in magic and all things wise and wonderful. I work as an admin in a calibration lab. I've published 2 books so far this year: Lost in Foreign Passions: Love and betrayal, passion and loss in the heart of an alien land (a memoir of my time as a Muslimah and living in Iran for a year), written under my previous married name, Debra Kamza, and Dream Lover (a paranormal romance, the tale of witch that summons her favorite character out of a Bewitched spin-off and the actor who plays him as well). I'm constantly writing stories and poems, thoughts and dreams, and quite a few opinions - many of which are not popular but oh well. Bite me. I'm interested in art, animals, the paranormal, and people. I love to dance, all sorts, but have been studying belly dance since 2006 and LOVE it! I love anime too and love dressing up and going to conventions. My writing runs the gummut of historical, science fiction, fantasy, romance, and erotica. Beware: I may not be safe reading for work. Just saying....

  1. Interesting…that there was fire AND water in your dream.
There was fire in one of my dreams recently, so I researched it online. I found out what they believe fire in a dream means.
    HUGS!!! 🙂

What does it mean? I thought maybe I was getting autonomic nudges to get back to my body on the double as it had to go pee. But then the pee must have reminded me of a beautiful pool because my grandmother told me once that she couldn’t listen to any of the beautiful fountains I had set up around the house without wanting to pee. So I got distracted by the pool and my autonomic system, getting desperate, screams “FIRE!” as a ploy to get me out of bed. It did work pretty well after all. But what is fire and water supposed to mean in dreams.
